The search for a kicker in Seattle now includes former Jacksonville kicker Jason Myers after he signed a reserve/future contract with the Seahawks. The deal with Myers was completed Wednesday. Seattle was able to sign Myers now because he was cut by Jacksonville earlier this year and was not with any other team at the conclusion of the regular season. Seattle appears unlikely to bring back Blair Walsh after he missed eight field goals this season Authentic Christian Kirk Jersey , including missed kicks that played a major role in three Seattle losses. Myers was the full-time kicker in Jacksonville for the 2015 and 2016 seasons, making 53 of 64 field goal attempts over those two seasons. He was cut after six games this season after making just 11 of 15 field goal attempts. Seattle also signed running back Jalston Fowler to a future contract. — It was ”Turn Ahead the Clock” night at Safeco Field, including back-to-the future sleeveless uniforms with shirt tails out and some shiny silver shoes and helmets. The Seattle Mariners feel like their future is now, earning a season-best sixth consecutive victory by beating the Kansas City Royals 6-4 on Saturday night. Ryon Healy had four hits, including a home run and three RBIs. Felix Hernandez (8-6) earned the win despite back stiffness so severe that it was difficult for him to bend over. ”It was real bad,” Hernandez said. ”I put a heat pad on it between innings and I couldn’t sit (in the dugout). I was standing up the whole game.” The stiffness showed in the first inning when Hernandez gave up four consecutive hits, including a three-run homer to Mike Moustakas. But Hernandez managed to pitch four scoreless innings afterward. Did he consider skipping his start? ”Come on, man,” he said. ”I had to go out there. But the ump wouldn’t let me wear my hat backwards (on the uniform night). ”He said it was too much of a distraction with my jersey out and the earrings. I said. `Look, this is the future.’ `’ Edwin Diaz pitched a perfect ninth inning for his 31st save of the season. Jason Hammels (2-10) lost his fifth straight Authentic Mason Cole Jersey , allowing all six runs on 13 hits in six innings. ”Mechanically, the first few innings I was a mess,” Hammels said. ”That’s a tough lineup. I felt like I was throwing batting practice today.” So did Hernandez in the first inning, but Seattle manager Scott Servais said they were just hoping to get five innings out of him. ”The ball was up in the first because he wasn’t extending due to the tightness in his back,” Servais said. ”He wasn’t finishing his pitches, but he got through it. The key was keeping us in the game, which he did, and we took advantage of it.” The Mariners (53-31) are 22 games over .500 for the first time since the end of the 2003 season. They have gone 16 consecutive seasons without a playoff appearance, the longest dry spell in professional sports. ”We’re just living the dream now,” Hernandez said. ”I love these guys. It’s the best team we’ve had in my 14 years. It’s fun.” Kansas City manager Ned Yost said he knew Hernandez would get better as the game progressed. ”Good pitchers Authentic Chase Edmonds Jersey , if you’re going to get them, you better get them early because they’re going to settle in,” Yost said. ”Hernandez settled in in the second.” The Mariners quickly got back in it. Mitch Haniger made it 3-1 in the bottom of the first when he doubled to the gap in left-center to score Jean Segura, who singled. The Mariners took the lead with three runs in the bottom of the second. Healy homered to left-center to tie it at 3 and Mike Zunino hit a sacrifice fly. The Mariners added two more runs on five hits in the third inning to take a 6-3 lead. It was another impressive win for the Mariners on a night of uniforms that were supposed to represent the year 2027. Dee Gordon wore his hat backward and Nelson Cruz showed off his giant biceps in the sleeveless attire. ”Dee put so much effort into it, so it was his night,”’ Healy said. ”But Nelson and those arms. My goodness. That’s shear intimidation when he doesn’t wear sleeves.” TRAINER’S ROOM Royals: Yost said RHP Ian Kennedy was feeling better Saturday after experiencing tightness on his left side when he left the game Friday after five innings. Yost didn’t day whether Kennedy would make his next scheduled start . INF Chester Cuthbert (lower back strain) went 0 for 2 with a walk and a run scored in his first rehab assignment game at Triple-A Omaha on Friday night. Cuthbert appeared in 30 games and was hitting .194 before the injury on May 16. UP NEXT Royals: RHP Brad Keller (2-2, 2.25) will make his sixth start of the year Sunday. Keller is coming off the best start of his rookie season when he pitched seven scoreless innings and allowed only two hits in a 2-0 victory over the Angels Monday. Mariners: LHP James Paxton (7-2, 3.65) will make his 18th start of the season Sunday. Paxton leads the team in strikeouts this season with 134 in 103 2/3 innings. He has six double-digit strikeout games in 2018 and his 11.6 strikeouts per nine innings are fourth-best in the AL.

WASHINGTON — On what was supposed to be a day off http://www.eaglesauthorizedshops.com/authentic-paul-worrilow-jersey , the New York Yankees and the Washington Nationals will try on Monday to finish what they started in May. The Yankees travel to Nationals Park to complete a game halted by rain on May 15 with the score tied 3-3. The teams will then make up a game that was rained out on May 16. Slumping Bryce Harper gets the game restarted when he leads off the bottom of the sixth inning. New York’s Sonny Gray (4-4, 4.98 ERA) opposes Erick Fedde (0-1, 5.91) 30 minutes after the completion of the suspended game Both teams are coming off a loss, though for the Yankees it’s a blip and for the Nationals a trend. Washington (37-31) completed a five-game trip through American League parks with an 8-6 loss at Toronto. The Nationals went 1-4 on the trip, ending with a sweep at the hands of the Blue Jays. After failing to score in three of their previous five games, the Nationals produced 13 hits Sunday, only to see rare poor performances from a starter and a late-inning reliever. Tanner Roark lasted just four innings and reliever Ryan Madson allowed two homers in the eighth inning, the first he has given up since June 4, 2017, when he was a member of the Oakland A’s and Washington’s Ryan Zimmerman homered. “You never want to get swept, but I’m glad we swung the bats today,” Nationals manager Dave Martinez told MASN.com. “We haven’t been swinging very well. … I’ll take our chances every time we score six runs, I really will. I’m proud of them, they didn’t give up, they fought the whole game.” Roark’s short outing came at a particularly bad time. The Nationals used four relievers Sunday and the pitching staff is looking at 12 or more innings of work Monday. “I stunk today,” Roark told MASN.com. “Didn’t really have much working for me.” Anthony Rendon, Brian Goodwin and Wilmer Difo each collected two hits, but Harper went 0-for-5. He is now batting .163 (7-for-43) in June with four walks and 20 strikeouts. The Yankees (46-21) dropped a 3-1 decision to the Tampa Bay Rays on Sunday but have won 13 of their last 17. That includes splitting two games with the Nationals last week. CC Sabathia was the hard-luck loser Sunday when the Yankees went 0-for-7 with runners in scoring position. “Always,” Yankees manager Aaron Boone told reporters when asked if he expected three runs not to be enough against his team. “And that’s no disrespect ever to the opponent http://www.eaglesauthorizedshops.com/authentic-richard-rodgers-jersey , it’s just I always know that we’re some traffic away from popping one,” he added. “We had a little traffic and threw some hits out there, but we just couldn’t get over the hump. They held us down and kept us at bay today.” The Yankees (.687) remained ahead of the 49-24 Red Sox (.671) in the AL East. New York leads the majors in runs per game, homers, homers per game, slugging percentage and OPS. That’s despite the continue struggles of Giancarlo Stanton (.243), who went 1-for-3 Sunday with a walk and two strikeouts. “He’s still working to be ‘on time’ and get started to his rhythm of hitting. … That’s what he’s struggled with: consistently being on time. That’s when you have a tendency to expand or be behind on the fastball or behind on the breaking ball,” Boone told MLB.com. However, Stanton is hitting .279 (34-for-122) with nine homers and 18 RBIs away from Yankee Stadium. And at Nationals Park, he has a career average of .289 with 20 homers and 41 RBIs in 54 games. Gray is 0-0 with a 4.74 ERA in three starts against the Nationals. He gave up a three-run homer to rookie Juan Soto last Wednesday in a 5-4 loss to Washington when he allowed four runs on seven hits in five innings. Fedde gave up four runs and six hits in five innings in a no-decision last week at Yankee Stadium. The Pittsburgh Pirates, jockeying for first place in the National League Central the first several weeks of the season, go into a weekend series against Cincinnati looking at the possibility of spiraling into the cellar conversation with the Reds. Pittsburgh (33-35) is eight games up on Cincinnati (25-43) but has fallen to fourth in the division and created some separation from the top three clubs by going 6-18 in its past 24 games. The Reds come to PNC Park with a three-game winning streak. Cincinnati right-hander Matt Harvey (1-4, 5.97 ERA) is scheduled to oppose Pirates right-hander Chad Kuhl (4-4, 3.95) on Friday. Both teams had a day off Thursday. The Pirates are coming off a 5-4 win on Wednesday at Arizona that concluded a 2-4 road trip. Friday’s game launches a 10-game, 10-day homestand. They have been plagued in recent games by a plethora of problems, from defensive lapses to baserunning blunders, blown leads to offensive droughts. “We’re going to get home and figure a lot of things out,” Pittsburgh manager Clint Hurdle said. Shortstop Jordy Mercer, who was 7-for-17 with a homer and four RBIs on the road trip Youth Breeland Speaks Jersey , believes the Pirates can turn things around. “It’s the ebb and flow of the season,” he said. “You’re going to get into some of these situations where things don’t go your way. “We’re able to relax a little bit now. We got a win. Hopefully, we can scratch another one out and roll with some momentum, especially at home with a 10-game homestand. Hopefully, we’ll get some momentum at home and carry it into the next road trip.” The Reds are coming off a 7-0 win on Wednesday at Kansas City and are looking to get their rotation into a prolonged groove. They have gotten back-to-back quality starts after going 15 games without one. During the winning streak, their rotation has a 1.40 ERA after ranking last in the major leagues with a 5.68 ERA. “You get that, you’re going to win ballgames. You’re going to win your share anyway,” Cincinnati manager Jim Riggleman said of the recent improvement. It falls on Harvey, who was acquired from the New York Mets on May 8 and will be making is seventh start with Cincinnati, to continue that. The Reds won in Harvey’s first three starts, then lost in his past three. Last Friday, Harvey gave up three homers in his first three innings against St. Louis in a 7-6, 10-inning loss, then settled down in his subsequent three innings. “That one had more well-thrown pitches than any of the games that he’s pitched … but the select few bad pitches he made really hurt him,” Riggleman said. Harvey is 2-1 with a 4.76 ERA in six career starts against Pittsburgh. Kuhl has allowed seven runs in his past four starts, totaling 23 1/3 innings. Most recently, he gave up three runs and eight hits in 5 1/3 innings last Friday in a 3-1 loss to the Chicago Cubs. In four career starts against the Reds, Kuhl is 1-1 with a 2.78 ERA.

It was unheard of not that long ago http://www.raidersauthorizedshops.com/authentic-johnny-townsend-jersey , but now it has become somewhat commonplace: pitchers by committee. A manager begins a game not with a starting pitcher but a reliever — and with more relievers to follow. Cubs manager Joe Maddon, certainly not a stranger to taking a risk, tried it Saturday with poor results against a suddenly hot team that’s not playing like a last-place club. Don’t look for him to make the same mistake Sunday. Maddon will run out one of his regular starters, right-hander Tyler Chatwood (3-5), at Great American Ball Park to try to avoid a four-game sweep by the Cincinnati Reds, who are playing nothing like the tail-ending team they’ve been all season. The Reds mounted their second six-game win streak of the year — the first time they’ve done that since 2012 — by making quick work of the Cubs’ starter-by-committee plans Saturday during an 11-2 victory keyed by the pitching of right-hander Anthony DeSclafani. And, remarkably, keyed by the hitting of DeSclafani, who hit the Reds’ seventh grand slam in 33 days and their third of the week, but the first by a Cincinnati pitcher since Bob Purkey against the Cubs on Aug. 1, 1959. DeSclafani (3-1) posted his third win in a row while giving up two runs and three hits in 6 1/3 innings. Cubs reliever-turned-starter Luke Farrell (2-3) was long gone by then, having been lifted with only a 2-1 deficit and two outs in the third inning. The Reds went on to score eight more runs against the Cubs’ bullpen — and catcher Chris Gimenez, who pitched the eighth inning. DeSclafani’s shot came with two outs in the third inning against left-hander Brian Duensing, and it was a no-doubt drive well up into the left-field stands. “All in all, I was trying to hit the ball hard somewhere and not strike out,” said DeSclafani, who came into the game with a .138 career batting average. “I knew a fastball was coming and I tried to square it up, and it happened to go out. … It was awesome. It all happened so quick.” And slowly the Reds, once 8-27, are starting to play the way they expected when the season started. They’ve won nine of 11 and are 5-0 on their current six-game homestand. “When you get down in the standings http://www.raidersauthorizedshops.com/authentic-ryan-switzer-jersey , it can be deflating,” said Reds interim manager Jim Riggleman, who replaced Bryan Price during the terrible start. “But they kept coming to the ballpark and working hard, and now we’re getting closer to respectability in the standings, though we’re not there yet.” The Cubs’ domination of the Reds is disappearing, too – going into the series, they’d won 43 of 62 against them in the last four seasons — as quickly as DeSclafani’s homer reached the seats. “We’re playing clean baseball — we’ve run the bases, made plays … are getting timely hits,” Riggleman said. “We have a nice string of well-played games.” This probably isn’t encouraging to the Cubs’ faithful, either. Chatwood is 0-4 with a 4.18 ERA in five career appearances against the Reds. He has walked 63 batters in 68 1/3 innings this season. Despite Chatwood’s lack of success against the Reds, only Joey Votto (2-for-10, .200) has double-digit at-bats against him. Chatwood opposes right-hander Sal Romano (4-7), who is coming off his best start of the season — seven shutout innings against the Detroit Tigers on Tuesday. Romano gave up four hits and struck out six despite walking four in a 9-5 Reds victory in which the Tigers scored all of their runs in the ninth inning. Romano’s last start against the Cubs wasn’t a good one. He surrendered seven runs and six hits in five innings of a 10-0 Chicago victory on May 19. He is 0-1 against them in two career games. Maddon gave Kris Bryant the day off Saturday after he went 0-for-4 with three strikeouts in the Reds’ 6-3 win Friday as he tries to get some of the slumping hitters going. Bryant is likely to be in the lineup Sunday against Romano. “We’ve got to get (Willson) Contreras going, we’ve got to get KB (Bryant) and (Anthony Rizzo) going,” Maddon said. “I mean, these were our primary offensive weapons last year, and they really haven’t hit their stride yet.” A look at what’s happening around the majors today: PACKING A PUNCH Odubel Herrera tries to homer in his fifth straight game when the Phillies begin a three-game series at Washington. ”What he’s doing is special,” Philadelphia manager Gabe Kapler said. ”It’s elite.” Herrera is batting .419 (13 for 31) with two doubles, five homers and eight RBIs in the last seven games. Seven of his 12 homers have given the Phillies a lead. ”He’s a different breed,” pitcher Jake Arrieta said. ”When he gets hot http://www.patriotsauthorizedshop.com/authentic-adrian-clayborn-jersey , he’s fun to watch.” ONE-DIMENSIONAL PLAYER A sprained right index finger is expected to keep Angels star Mike Trout from playing the outfield during a four-game series against Toronto. Trout, who has reached base in 31 of 47 plate appearances over his last nine games, was the designated hitter Thursday night during an 8-5 victory over the Blue Jays. The two-time MVP went 0 for 2 with three walks in his 1,000th career game, ending his hitting streak at eight games. Los Angeles manager Mike Scioscia said the injury isn’t serious and it won’t hinder Trout’s ability to grip or swing the bat. BASHING THE BUCS Jon Jay and the Diamondbacks look to keep feasting on Pirates pitching when the teams square off in Pittsburgh again. Arizona has scored 35 runs in going 3-1 against the Pirates this season. Jay doubled in each of the first two innings Thursday night, when the Diamondbacks cruised to a 9-3 victory. The center fielder is hitting .340 in 13 games since being acquired from Kansas City in a June 6 trade. Ivan Nova (4-5, 4.42 ERA) will try to slow down Arizona – the right-hander has won both starts with a 1.54 ERA since being activated from the disabled list June 10. He missed two weeks with a sprained right ring finger. Patrick Corbin (6-5, 3.48) gets the ball for the Diamondbacks. The lefty is 1-2 with a 5.90 ERA in five career starts against the Pirates. ICHI-WHO? Keep an eye on the Mariners‘ dugout at Fenway Park for a mysterious, mustachioed visitor when Seattle opens a series in Boston. Associated Press photographer Bill Kostround spotted Ichiro Suzuki hiding on Seattle’s bench Thursday at Yankee Stadium wearing a fake mustache, sunglasses and a hoodie. Officially, Suzuki isn’t allowed to be in the dugout during games under Major League Baseball rules after moving to the team’s front office in early May. But the 44-year-old outfielder channeled former Mets manager Bobby Valentine to sneak his way onto the bench – Valentine donned a fake mustache and sunglasses and returned to the dugout after being ejected from a game in 1999. ”He was perfect. I never would have known it was him,” Valentine texted to the AP. DOUBLE DIP The Oakland Athletics and Chicago White Sox are set to play a single-admission doubleheader after Thursday night’s scheduled game in the Windy City was postponed because of rain. It was the 40th postponement in the majors this season, already one more than all of last year. James Shields (2-8, 4.63 ERA) and Lucas Giolito (4-7, 7.19) will start for Chicago, which has lost seven straight to match a season high and is a season-low 25 games under .500. Oakland will send Sean Manaea (6-6, 3.56) and Chris Bassitt (0-2, 2.45) to the mound. —

Houston has arguably the best overall pitching staff in the major leagues but has run into a big problem because of injury. The Astros are struggling to find someone to handle those standout pitchers after losing another catcher in their 5-3 victory over the Texas Rangers on Tuesday. The Astros will send right-hander Garrit Cole (9-2 Cassius Marsh Jersey , 2.50 ERA) to the mound for the Independence Day, Lone Star State showdown at Globe Life Park in Arlington while the Rangers counter with left-hander Mike Minor (6-4, 4.64). Houston’s catching situation took a turn for the worst Tuesday when Max Stassi was forced from the game against Texas in the first inning after he was hit on the right wrist by a pitch. Stassi’s injury comes on the same day veteran catcher Brian McCann met with team medical director Dr. David Lintner ahead of having surgery on his right knee. The Astros placed McCann on the disabled list Tuesday with a sore right knee for the second time this season and recalled catcher Tim Federowicz from Triple-A Fresno. Federowicz took over for Stassi, who entered Tuesday’s game batting .255 with seven homers and 22 RBIs. Houston manager A.J. Hinch wouldn’t say what type of surgery McCann would undergo and when the procedure would take place, but admitted that the Astros without McCann, their front-line backstop, “for the foreseeable future.” “We don’t know other than he’s heading for surgery and we’ll have a better timetable once he sees Dr. Lintner and goes through the medical process,” Hinch told mlb.com. “We had a long conversation in Tampa (over the weekend), and it’s continually the same issue over and over with his right knee. One of the options is surgery, and he went back to Houston to take care of it.” Texas right-handed reliever Chris Martin was optioned to Triple-A Round Rock on Tuesday prior to the club’s series opener against the Astros. The move made room on the 25-man roster for first baseman Ronald Guzman, who returned from the seven-day concussion disabled list. Rangers manager Jeff Banister said Martin’s demotion was to create bench depth “Chris hadn’t done anything to warrant being optioned,” Banister said. “He’s got options. Obviously, he’s pitched well for us in the bullpen. However, you’ve got to be able to protect some of the other players on the team, too.” Banister told mlb.com that Guzman passed the concussion protocol three days after he was placed on the disabled list. “Ronals was a full-go, as far as baseball activities are concerned,” he said. The Astros have shuffled their rotation for this week to give Lance McCullers, Jr. and Charlie Morton some additional rest. McCullers was originally scheduled to start Wednesday against the Rangers. Cole makes his first start in July after going 4-1 with a 3.41 ERA in six June starts, posting a 1.11 WHIP and 42 strikeouts in 37 innings. The Astros are 14-3 in games started by Cole, who is looking to reach double digits in wins. Minor has been one of the Rangers’ best starters of late. He was 2-0 with a 2.08 ERA in four June starts. Minor is 4-2 with a 3.44 ERA in nine home starts this season. Minor is 1-2 with a 5.06 ERA in nine games (six starts) versus Houston, including 0-1, 5.74 in three starts this season. Cole is 3-0 with a 1.33 ERA in four starts against Texas, including 2-0, 1.80 in three turns this year. Philadelphia’s first Super Bowl parade provided catharsis Thursday for hundreds of thousands of Eagles fans, deliriously joyful after decades without a title and relishing the national spotlight on a team that few outside the city thought could win it all. Fans clad in Eagles green jammed the streets from dawn near the stadium to an afternoon rally at the city’s famed ”Rocky” steps, lining up 20 deep in spots to catch a glimpse of the champs. The Eagles rode in open-top double decker buses to the art museum that Sylvester Stallone made famous for a rally nearly 60 years in the making. Center Jason Kelce gave voice to every frustrated Philly fan with a remarkable, impassioned and profane speech that had him defending the general manager Patrick Willis Jersey , the coach and a litany of players who supposedly weren’t smart enough, big enough or talented enough to win a championship. ”We were a bunch of underdogs,” shouted Kelce, channeling Rocky himself. ”Bottom line is we wanted it more!” And so did football-crazed Philly – desperately. Until Sunday’s 41-33 victory over the favored New England Patriots, the Eagles remained the only team in their division without a Super Bowl title – an ongoing humiliation that gave Philly an inferiority complex and made Eagles fans an easy target for fans of other teams, especially the rival Dallas Cowboys and New York Giants. ”This Super Bowl championship is for you,” Eagles owner Jeffrey Lurie told the vast crowd. ”You are the most passionate and deserving sports fans on the planet. We couldn’t have done it without you.” Added Super Bowl MVP quarterback Nick Foles: ”We finally did it. We’re Super Bowl champs!” The parade began at the Eagles’ stadium complex and slowly made its way up Broad Street past the cheering throngs. Carrying the Lombardi Trophy, coach Doug Pederson walked part of the route – allowing fans to touch the gleaming hardware – while Lurie held a sign saying ”THANK YOU FANS” as he stood next to the team’s three quarterbacks: Foles, injured starter Carson Wentz and third-stringer Nate Sudfeld. Dan Tarvin, 29, was pumped after getting to high-five Pederson and GM Howie Roseman, who was instrumental in putting together a squad expected to compete for championships for years to come. ”They are more than heroes. They’re legends. They’re immortal in this city, forever,” Tarvin said. Corey Carter, 32, of West Philadelphia, clutched a woodcut of an Eagle that he dubbed the ”Lombirdy Trophy.” ”This is the greatest day!” Carter said. ”Besides God, my kids and my wife, it’s Eagles. That’s all there is. My family and then Eagles, and this is the greatest day of my life, ever.” Schools, museums, courts, government offices and even the Philadelphia Zoo were shut down so the city could fete an underdog Eagles team that few outside Philadelphia thought had a prayer of beating the mighty Patriots led by superstar quarterback Tom Brady and coach Bill Belichick. Organizers prepared for as many as 2 million people, though city officials didn’t release a crowd estimate. Terry Gallen, a fan from Glen Mills, in the Philadelphia suburbs DeForest Buckner Jersey , said he ”broke down like a baby and cried” when the Eagles won the Super Bowl. ”It means everything,” Gallen said. ”We’re loving it.” At the rally, Lurie, Pederson and a slew of players all took the microphone and dedicated Sunday’s victory to the fans. But it was the crowd-pleasing Kelce who best channeled the gruff but ultimately good-hearted ”attytood” for which Philadelphians are famous. Wearing an outlandishly sequined Mummers getup – a nod to Philadelphia’s raucous New Year’s Day parade – Kelce declared that ”no one wanted us. No analyst liked to see us win the Super Bowl. And nobody likes our fans.” He then led the crowd in a jolly – and filthy – chant set to the tune of ”My Darling Clementine”: ”No one likes us, no one likes us, no one likes us, we don’t care!” The big-bearded lineman uttered at least two profanities that made it onto live TV, recalling Chase Utley’s similarly profane speech at the Phillies’ World Series parade 10 years ago. Police investigated at least two stabbings on parade day, including one man stabbed inside a mall just off the route. No details about his condition were released. A second man was taken to a hospital with a stab wound, and police said they were trying to piece together what happened. City officials said they wouldn’t have arrest numbers until Friday. The parade was overwhelmingly peaceful, though, giving fans an emotional release after decades of disappointment. For lots of fans, the parade was a reminder of the Phillies’ victory lap after a 28-year World Series title drought. For others, it took on spiritual shades of the pope’s visit in 2015. ”It is like a religion,” said Kevin Fry, 37, of Prospect Park in suburban Philadelphia, a press operator at the Inquirer and Daily News who helped print 700,000 copies of the Super Bowl edition that proclaimed ”At Last!” And for Natasha Curley, 31, a janitor from Trenton, New Jersey, the Super Bowl title means that rival fans can stop their yapping – at least till next season. ”This stops all the hate,” Curley said. ”They got nothing to say now.” — Associated Press reporter Kristen De Groot in Philadelphia and Michael Rubinkam

OAKLAND Authentic Marshall Newhouse Jersey , Calif. — The San Diego Padres will attempt to cool down Jed Lowrie and the Oakland Athletics with a pitcher being promoted from the minor leagues when the clubs complete a two-game interleague series Wednesday afternoon. Right-hander Luis Perdomo (1-2, 8.36 ERA), who has pitched well at Triple-A El Paso after a disastrous April for the Padres, is expected to be added to the 25-man major-league roster in time to duel A’s left-hander Sean Manaea (8-6, 3.38). Oakland improved to 3-0 in its head-to-head meetings with San Diego this season with a come-from-behind, 6-2 victory Tuesday night in the series opener. Lowrie had the big blow of the game, a three-run double as part of a five-run sixth inning that allowed the A’s to turn a 2-0 deficit into a 5-2 lead. The big hit came in Lowrie’s return to his natural position, second base, after he had made 14 starts at third base while Matt Chapman was out with a hand injury. Chapman was reinstated from the disabled list Tuesday and went 0-for-3. A’s manager Bob Melvin pushed Lowrie for the American League All-Star team even before Tuesday’s heroics, hoping his time at third base caught the eye of those who will be selecting the club’s reserves. “In those games, you never know where they go, and versatility could play a part,” Melvin said. “So I think the fact he played so well at third base might even increase his chances to make the All-Star team.” Lowrie is tied for third in the American League in RBIs with 59 and tied for sixth in doubles with 25. He had three hits, including two home runs, and four RBIs when the A’s swept a pair from the Padres in San Diego last month. The A’s have been on a roll since, winning 13 of their last 16 games to improve to a season-best-tying eight games over .500 (47-39). Tuesday’s victory raised their interleague record to 6-2 this season. Perdomo has faced neither Lowrie nor the A’s in his three-year career. An eight-game winner in 2017, he began the season in the majors, but couldn’t get into the fifth inning in three of his four April starts before being sent to Triple A. The 25-year-old seemed to regain his form there, going 6-2 with a 3.10 ERA in 11 starts Authentic Marquis Haynes Jersey , earning another shot at the bigs. Perdomo has pitched in nine interleague games (eight starts) and compiled a 4-2 record and 5.63 ERA. Manaea, meanwhile, is coming off a brilliant June at the big-league level, going 3-0 with a 2.84 ERA in five starts. He won each of his last three starts to finish the month as one of four American Leaguers to go 3-0, joining Toronto’s J.A. Happ, Baltimore’s Dylan Bundy and Cleveland’s Shane Bieber. Manaea has never faced the Padres, but does have nine starts of interleague experience, having gone 2-5 with a 4.47 ERA. Justin Smoak isn’t a fan of extra innings, so he was doubly happy about his game-winning homer against the slumping Detroit Tigers. Smoak led off the bottom of the ninth with a home run and the Toronto Blue Jays beat Detroit 4-3 on Saturday, handing the Tigers their 11th straight loss. ”Honestly, nobody wants to play extra innings,” Smoak said. ”To be able to do it in the ninth and get it over with is always a good feeling.” This is Detroit’s longest losing streak since an 11-game skid in August 2003, the year the Tigers lost 119 times. The Tigers last lost 12 straight in 1996. Three of Detroit’s 11 defeats, including the past two, have been one-run losses. The Tigers are 13-13 in one-run decisions. ”There’s things we can do better but we’re not playing bad,” Tigers starter Matt Boyd said. ”It may seem dire, but it’s not. We’re close to where we want to be and we’re going to come out on the other end of this.” Smoak connected against reliever Joe Jimenez (3-1) for his 11th homer of the season. It was the second walk-off drive of his career, with the other coming in 2016 against Texas. Smoak, who hit a two-run homer in Friday’s 3-2 win Authentic Cordy Glenn Jersey , has gone deep in back-to-back games for the first time this season. ”I’m just trying to be aggressive and it’s been better as of late,” he said. Seunghwan Oh (4-2) worked one inning for the win. Randal Grichuk also homered for the Blue Jays, who have won 10 of 11 at home. John Hicks hit a solo homer in the Detroit second off Sam Gaviglio and Nick Castellanos made it 3-0 with a two-run shot in the third, his 12th. Boyd held the Blue Jays hitless until Kevin Pillar’s leadoff double in the fifth. Pillar moved to third on a one-out single by Aledmys Diaz and scored on a groundout by Devon Travis before Grichuk hit his tying homer. ”He was leaving the ball up just a little too much where they could get the bat head to it,” Tigers manager Ron Gardenhire said. Boyd allowed three runs and four hits in six innings. He walked two and struck out seven. ”I made a few mistakes today and one of them went over the fence,” Boyd said. Gaviglio gave up three runs and four hits in seven innings, matching his longest outing of the season. Leonys Martin and Castellanos hit consecutive singles off Joe Biagini in the eighth but the Blue Jays right-hander retired the next three batters in order. ”We had runners in position a couple of times,” Gardenhire said. ”We just didn’t come up with the big one.” Martin helped preserve the 3-3 tie in the bottom of the eighth by throwing out Travis at home plate. Travis was trying to score from second on Yangervis Solarte’s single to center, but couldn’t beat Martin’s one-hop throw. The assist was Martin’s ninth, tying him with Seattle’s Mitch Haniger for the AL lead. With a heat alert in place for Toronto, the retractable roof at Rogers Centre was kept closed. The outdoor temperature was 88 degrees, with high humidity making it feel like 106. CAGED TIGERS Detroit has lost 12 of 14 in Toronto. CRIME DOESN’T PAY Blue Jays C Luke Maile threw out two runners attempting to steal, both at second base. Maile threw out Jeimer Candelario in the first and Grayson Greiner in the seventh. TRAINER’S ROOM Tigers: RHP Alex Wilson had to leave in the eighth because of a sore left calf. Wilson missed almost a month earlier this season because of a strain in his left foot. … RHP Drew VerHagen (nasal fracture) will join Triple A Toledo Saturday night to begin an injury rehabilitation assignment. VerHagen has been out since June 20. Blue Jays: Toronto put RHP Ryan Tepera (elbow) on the 10-day disabled list and recalled RHP Jake Petricka from Triple-A Buffalo. UP NEXT Tigers RHP Jordan Zimmermann (2-0, 4.35) faces Blue Jays LHP J.A. Happ (10-3, 3.62) on Canada Day in Toronto. Zimmermann allowed seven runs in his previous start against Toronto on June 8, 2016. Happ has won six straight decisions and is unbeaten in eight outings. —

Falcons quarterback Matt Ryan said he’ll be ready for Saturday’s NFC divisional playoff game at Philadelphia after missing Tuesday’s practice for personal reasons. Ryan was back with the team for Wednesday’s practice. He didn’t disclose details of his absence Authentic Pernell McPhee Jersey , but indicated he was attending to a family matter. ”I just want to thank everybody for their support and outreach. It means a lot to me,” Ryan said. ”I’ve always tried to keep my family life private and I hope you can respect that and I’d like to continue to do that moving forward.” Ryan and his wife, Sarah, announced in November they expect to become first-time parents in April with twins. Coach Dan Quinn said Wednesday there were ”no setbacks for him or for us” due to Ryan’s excused absence on Tuesday, when the game plan was installed. ”He is one of the best competitors and most professional ballplayers I’ve ever been around, so no adjustment for that,” Quinn said. ”We’re fortunate he’s back here today and back into it.” Ryan attended Tuesday’s team meeting before missing practice. ”I was able to get the game plan and kind of get the information I needed yesterday,” Ryan said. ”I’ll be very well prepared for the game on Saturday.” The Eagles (13-3) are the No. 1 seed in the NFC. The Falcons (11-6) beat the Los Angeles Rams 26-13 in a wild-card game last week. For Ryan, a native of Philadelphia, Saturday’s game is a homecoming. ”I’m used to it now,” he said. ”… The one nice part is there will be a lot of familiar faces, friendly faces after the game, which is always nice.” Ryan hasn’t missed a game since Week 15 of the 2009 season, so Tuesday’s practice without the 10-year veteran was unusual. ”It was different Authentic Anthony Averett Jersey ,” said center Alex Mack. ”He’s a very consistent part and staple of this team. I’m glad he’s back today and we’ll move forward.” Veteran backup Matt Schaub took Ryan’s place in practice on Tuesday. Ryan is trying to lead the Falcons to a repeat Super Bowl appearance after last year’s loss to New England. Ryan was the NFL MVP in 2016, when he threw 38 touchdown passes with only seven interceptions. He has reached 4,000 yards passing for the seventh straight season, but he passed for only 20 touchdowns with 12 interceptions in the regular season. He completed 21 of 30 passes for 218 yards with one touchdown and no interceptions in the win over the Rams. NOTES: Quinn strongly denied speculation that offensive coordinator Steve Sarkasian might make a lateral move to Seattle to head the Seahawks’ offense. Sarkasian and Seattle coach Pete Carroll worked together at Southern Cal. ”Zero chance of that,” Quinn said. … For the second straight day, WR Julio Jones (ankle) did not participate in practice. It has not been unusual for Jones to miss practices early in the week this season but he has not missed a game. … RB Devonta Freeman (knee), LB LaRoy Reynolds (knee) and WR Mohamed Sanu (knee) were limited. — Strikeouts exceeded hits in the major leagues for the second time in three months, a deviation that had never occurred before this year. There were 6,776 strikeouts and 6,640 hits in June, the Elias Sports Bureau said Sunday. That leaves the season totals at 21,090 strikeouts and 20,671 hits about halfway through the season. Strikeouts had topped hits in a full month for the first time in April, when then there were 6 Authentic Russell Bodine Jersey ,656 strikeouts and 6,360 hits. The previous low differential was in April 2017, when there were 138 more hits than strikeouts. There were 7,033 hits and 6,971 strikeouts in May. Strikeouts per game averaged 16.9 in June, up from 16.75 in May but down from 17.5 in April, which was a record for a full calendar month. Strikeouts have set a record for 10 consecutive seasons, and this year’s rate projects to 41,464. That would shatter last year’s mark of 40,104; the total was 32,884 in 2008. There have been 2,822 home runs in 1,236 games, an average of 2.26. That represents a drop from 2.52 last year through June Authentic Phillip Gaines Jersey , when there were 3,024 in 1,199 games. The average climbed from 1.90 before the 2015 All-Star break to 2.17 in the second half that year, then rose to 2.31 in 2016 and a record 2.51 last season. Thus far this season, 32 percent of 94,241 plate appearances ended without a batted ball in play: 21,090 strikeouts, 8,081 walks, 952 hit batters and 23 catcher’s interference calls. —

Jake Arrieta and Gio Gonzalez should be happy to see the calendar flip to July. They’ll hope to put a rough June behind them when they face off Sunday in the finale of a four-game set between the Philadelphia Phillies and the Washington Nationals. The Phillies will try to win the series in the 1:35 p.m. matinee. Arrieta (5-6 Authentic Richard Rodgers Jersey , 3.54 ERA) had a 6.66 ERA in five June starts. Opponents hit .305 with a .907 OPS against him in the month, and the veteran right-hander allowed at least three earned runs in each outing. In his last start, Arrieta gave up six runs (three earned) in five innings against the New York Yankees on nine hits, two of which were homers. “The ball is getting hit, that’s it. Making mistakes, too many mistakes,” Arrieta told MLB.com after the start. “I was throwing quality breaking balls early in the count and then when I needed to go back to a similar spot or a little bit lower in the strike zone or out of the strike zone, I just put it too much in the zone and they hit it. It’s a pretty simple explanation.” Arrieta had a 0.90 ERA in five starts during May, and he gave up just one run and two hits in six innings against the Nationals on May 6. Arrieta is 1-2 with a 5.02 ERA in 10 career starts against the Nationals. Gonzalez (6-5, 3.68) had an even worse June. The 32-year-old lefty had an 8.44 ERA in five starts during the month. In three of those outings, Gonzalez gave up at least four earned runs and failed to pitch more than four innings. Gonzalez had his worst start of 2018 the last time he took the mound. He gave up six runs and walked five batters in one inning against the Tampa Bay Rays on Monday. “It wasn’t my night. I couldn’t get a strike,” Gonzalez, who missed the strike zone with 33 of his 62 pitches Authentic Joseph Noteboom Jersey , told reporters after the outing. “Sometimes it happens. It’s part of the game.” Gonzalez will be facing the Phillies for the 25th time in his 11-year big league career. He is 11-7 with a 2.60 ERA and 1.13 WHIP against the Nationals’ divisional rival. Gonzalez threw five scoreless innings against Philadelphia on May 4. The Phillies, who are 5-4 against the Nationals this season, have won two of the first three games against their divisional foe in the series. At 44-37, they are two games ahead of Washington for second place in the National League East. The Phillies were 28-53 through 81 games a season ago. The Phillies hope Odubel Herrera’s bat heats up. The center fielder homered in Saturday’s 3-2 victory after going 2-for-28 in his previous seven games. Herrera is hitting .286 on the season with 14 homers and 46 RBIs. The Nationals, meanwhile, went 9-16 in June and are 42-39 at the halfway mark of the season. Alex Bregman hit a game-ending two-run double with one out in the ninth inning and the Houston Astros beat the Tampa Bay Rays 5-4 Monday night to match a franchise record with their 12th straight win. Houston trailed 4-0 after three innings but cut the lead to one entering the ninth. Sergio Romo (1-2) walked Marwin Gonzalez to start the ninth, then allowed a single to Max Stassi. Tony Kemp’s sacrifice bunt moved both runners up, and Houston loaded the bases when George Springer reached on interference by catcher Wilson Ramos. Bregman then drove a ball that bounced off the wall in left-center. He lifted both arms as he trotted into second base, and teammates mobbed him in the infield. Collin McHugh (2-0) struck out two in a scoreless ninth for the win on a night Gerrit Cole walked a career-high five to help the Rays build the early lead. Houston also won 12 straight in 2004 and 1999. The Astros will go for No. 13 on Tuesday with ace Justin Verlander on the mound. NATIONALS 5, YANKEES 3, 1ST GAME YANKEES 4, NATIONALS 2, 2ND GAME WASHINGTON (AP) – Aaron Hicks’ go-ahead two-run homer sparked chants of ”Let’s go Authentic Brian Allen Jersey , Yankees!” on the road and helped New York beat Washington in the second game of an unusual semi-doubleheader, after pinch-hitter Juan Soto’s tiebreaking two-run shot for the Nationals won the opener. These games originally were scheduled more than a month ago, and Game 1 resumed after being suspended because of rain in the middle of the sixth – so technically, Soto managed to homer in a game played before he made his major league debut. Huh? The 19-year-old Soto was called up from the minors for the first time five days after Game 1 started on May 15; it picked back up at 3-all and the Nationals about to bat in the bottom of the sixth. After Bryce Harper – who had a full beard back on May 15, when the game began, but was clean-shaven this time – struck out, and Anthony Rendon singled, Soto drove a 97 mph fastball from Chad Green (4-1) to the back of the second deck in right field. RANGERS 6, ROYALS 3 KANSAS CITY, Mo. (AP) – Bartolo Colon earned his 244th win, passing Hall of Famer Juan Marichal for the most by a pitcher born in the Dominican Republic, and Texas beat skidding Kansas City. Adrian Beltre hit a three-run homer for the Rangers, who won their third straight game. The 45-year-old Colon (4-4) allowed three runs and nine hits in six innings to break a tie with Marichal on the career wins chart. Only right-hander Dennis Martinez has more victories among pitchers from Latin America. Martinez Authentic John Kelly Jersey , a native of Nicaragua, won 245 games in the majors. Ian Kennedy (1-7) is 1-13 in his last 28 home starts. The Royals have lost seven straight and 13 of 14. They’ve dropped 27 of 37 games at Kauffman Stadium, the worst home record in the majors. Kansas City is 2-14 in June, having been outscored 95-35. INDIANS 6, WHITE SOX 2 CLEVELAND (AP) – Trevor Bauer shut out Chicago for seven innings before a rain delay ended his night, and Jason Kipnis homered to lead Cleveland over the sliding and sloppy White Sox. Bauer (6-5) allowed just three hits, struck out eight and was in line to potentially pitch his first shutout. However, the game was halted by rain in the seventh inning for 35 minutes, and manager Terry Francona pulled the right-hander following the delay and 100 pitches. Roberto Perez drove in two runs off Dylan Covey (3-2) as Cleveland improved to 15-4 in its last 19 home games against Chicago. The White Sox committed three errors – one by Covey – in the first three innings, lost their fifth straight and dropped a season-high 23 games under .500. METS 12, ROCKIES 2 DENVER (AP) – Brandon Nimmo homered twice during a huge night at the plate, including an inside-the-park shot to begin the game, and New York finally gave Jacob deGrom some run support in a victory over. Wilmer Flores and Devin Mesoraco also went deep for New York Kentrell Brice Jersey , which won its their third straight. Nimmo had four hits and set a career high with four RBIs – one night after his go-ahead, two-run homer with two outs in the ninth inning staved off defeat for the Mets and rallied them to a win at Arizona. After pitching in terrible luck for weeks as New York’s hitters slumped, deGrom (5-2) got some help at last. He allowed two runs – one earned – in eight innings to snap a two-game skid and win for the first time in six starts since May 18 against the Diamondbacks. PHILLIES 6, CARDINALS 5 PHILADELPHIA (AP) – Left fielder Marcell Ozuna dived for and missed Aaron Altherr’s two-run double with two outs in the 10th inning, allowing Philadelphia to rally past St. Louis. Tommy Pham hit a solo homer in the top of the 10th, one inning after a wild pitch on a strikeout kept the game going. But the Phillies rallied. Rhys Hoskins hit a bloop single to start the bottom of the 10th off Matt Bowman (0-2). Odubel Herrera dived headfirst into first to seemingly beat out an infield single, but the play was overturned by a video review. After Carlos Santana was intentionally walked, Bowman struck out Jesmuel Valentin. Altherr then hit a sinking liner that appeared to skip off Ozuna’s glove before bouncing to the wall. PIRATES 1, BREWERS 0 PITTSBURGH (AP) – Trevor Williams pitched one-hit ball over seven innings and two Pittsburgh relievers closed out a two-hitter against Milwaukee. Williams (6-4) struck out seven and walked two for his first victory in a month. Jordy Mercer drove in the lone run with a seventh-inning double, and the Pirates won for the fourth time in five games. The B

Philadelphia’s mayor on Friday praised fans for their largely peaceful revelry at the Eagles’ Super Bowl parade Colton Sissons Jersey , noting only a few ”small hiccups” during a celebration that included two stabbings, a toppled Jumbotron and the assault of an officer. Police reported two arrests as hundreds of thousands of people wearing green, many of them overcome with equal parts joy and relief after the Eagles’ first Super Bowl victory, crowded the city for a party nearly 60 years in the making. ”I don’t think many people would argue when I say this week has been one of the greatest weeks in Philadelphia history,” said Mayor Jim Kenney, adding that the event mostly ”went off without a hitch.” Any foul play during the parade was minor, said Police Commissioner Richard Ross, who tallied damage such as four police cars dented by fans climbing on them, two stabbing victims who are expected to survive, an officer who was assaulted by a woman trying to get onto the parade route and two arrests for assault. People attempting to scale a Jumbotron knocked over the huge video screen. Maintenance crews worked overnight, picking up trash left behind by fans who watched the team travel in open-top double decker buses from their stadium to the art museum steps made famous in the ”Rocky” movies. Coach Doug Pederson walked part of the 5-mile route while carrying the Lombardi Trophy, allowing fans to touch the gleaming hardware. Center Jason Kelce Shawn Williams Jersey , wearing what looked like a genie outfit, gave voice to every frustrated Philly fan with an impassioned and profane speech. ”We were a bunch of underdogs,” shouted Kelce, channeling Rocky. ”Bottom line is we wanted it more!” Thursday’s parade was tame in comparison to impromptu celebration that broke out Sunday after the Eagles’ defeated the New England Patriots 41-33. In the hours after the Super Bowl victory, fans overturned a car, shattered storefront windows, ate horse feces, collapsed a hotel’s awning and hit the police commissioner in the head with a bottle. Parade organizers prepared for as many as 2 million people. Crowd safety experts commissioned by The Philadelphia Inquirer and Philadelphia Daily News put the number at about 700,000, based on an examination of photos of the parade route. But city Emergency Operators Director Dan Bradley said he felt the number was higher than that. The parade cost is still being calculated, the mayor said. The celebration apparently let down at least a few fans who took to social media to fume about how an double-length bus stopped directly in front of a section of the crowd just as the parade cruised by. One person wrote that she had waited in the cold for six hours for nothing. ”We’re absolutely sorry that it happened,” says a message posted on the city’s official Twitter account Youth Jordan Akins Jersey , adding that the bus was carrying police officers. ”A parade of this magnitude is obviously an extremely fluid situation and our first concern is always public safety.” The Indianapolis Colts’ second choice for head coach could turn out to be even better than the first. And Frank Reich has the Super Bowl championship gear to prove it. Five days after New England Patriots offensive coordinator Josh McDaniels reneged on a deal to take the Colts’ job, Ballard hired Reich, the man who outwitted McDaniels last week and helped lead the Philadelphia Eagles to their first NFL title since 1960. Terms of the deal were not immediately available, but Reich is expected to be introduced at a news conference Tuesday. Colts officials posted a photo of Reich signing the deal on the team’s website. The move ends a search that spanned 41 days, included two coaching announcements and the embarrassment of McDaniels changing his mind Tuesday night just eight hours after telling the Colts he’d take the job. GOLF PEBBLE BEACH, Calif. (AP) – Ted Potter Jr. outplayed the world’s No. 1 player and held off everyone else Sunday to win the AT&T Pebble Beach National for his first victory since a broken ankle nearly ended his career. Potter holed a chip from behind the green for birdie on the par-3 seventh hole to build a two-shot lead over Dustin Johnson, and no one got any closer the rest of the way. He finished with 11 straight pars for a 3-under 69 and a three-shot victory over Johnson, Phil Mickelson, Jason Day and Chez Reavie. Potter was unflappable playing alongside Johnson, who next week completes one full year at No. 1 in the world. That changed when he tapped in for par on the 18th hole, and he choked back emotion of a week he won’t soon forget. NBA BOSTON (AP) – Paul Pierce used to walk onto the court at TD Garden and imagine seeing his number hanging from the rafters. ”The Truth” doesn’t have to dream about that day anymore. The Celtics retired Pierce’s No. 34 following the Celtics’ 121-99 loss to the Cleveland Cavaliers. He became the 23rd person in franchise history to have his number or name enshrined by the Celtics organization. The honor capped a 19-year career for Pierce, who was named NBA Finals MVP in 2008 when the Celtics captured their 17th championship. After the game Youth Darius Leonard Jersey , Pierce, clad in a green plaid blazer, entered the court via the newly named Paul Pierce Players’ Tunnel. The team said the tunnel, featuring Pierce’s signature, will serve as a reminder to current and future players of what ”being a Celtic” means. When his jersey was raised, Pierce was serenaded with chants of ”Thank You, Paul Pierce!” AUTO RACING DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. (AP) – Brad Keselowski opened Speedweeks, before he turned a single lap, as the 7-1 favorite to win the Daytona 500. Now that he has the first victory of the season, Keselowski is shaping up to be a safe bet. Keselowski led a 1-2 Team Penske sweep Sunday in the exhibition The Clash at Daytona International Speedway. The race marks the opening of Speedweeks and is the first chance for teams to show their offseason work. Keselowski is one of the best restrictor-plate racers in NASCAR. Although he’s a five-time winner at Talladega in Alabama, his lone victory at Daytona International Speedway was in the 2016 summer race. POMONA Muhammad Wilkerson Jersey , Calif. (AP) – Brittany Force escaped serious injury in a wall-banging crash Sunday in the season-opening Lucas Oil NHRA Winternationals. John Force Racing said the 31-year-old Top Fuel driver, the daughter of Funny Car great John Force, sustained no major internal injuries, but does have some bruising of the lungs and will remain hospitalized overnight as a precaution. The team said a CT scan was negative and an MRI showed subtle findings likely from previous injuries. The defending season champion was racing against Terry Haddock in the first round of eliminations when her 11,000-horsepower dragster veered right just off the start, shot to the left – crossing in front of Haddock – and slammed into the left wall. It spun with the tangled parachute catching the nose and hit backward into the right wall, flipping on its side. It ended up back on what was left of the wheels when it finally skidded to a stop. She was taken to the hospital about the same time her father went out with an engine explosion. HOCKEY BUFFALO, N.Y. (AP) – Sabres forward Jack Eichel has a sprained right ankle and coach Phil Housley says it’s premature to rule out Buffalo’s leading scorer for the remainder of the season. Housley said Eichel will miss four to six weeks, putting the player in a position to return in the final weeks of the season even though Buffalo might not have much to play for at that point. The Sabres are last in the Eastern Conference standings and sit 19 points out of the playoff contention with 27 games left. Eichel was hurt during the first period while attempting to play the puck behind the Bruins net. He was hecked from behind by Boston’s Matt Grzelcyk and fell awkwardly into the boards. Eichel leads Buffalo with 22 goals and 53 points in 55 games in his third season since being selected with the No. 2 pick in the 2015 draft.

JACKSONVILLE Eagles Markus Wheaton Jersey , Fla. — The Jacksonville Jaguars don’t have near the playoff experience as the Pittsburgh Steelers. Jacksonville, though, has winning experience at Heinz Field. The champions of the AFC South (Jaguars) and AFC North (Steelers) will meet Sunday in the divisional round with the winner advancing to the AFC Championship Game against Tennessee or New England on Jan. 21. Jacksonville trounced Pittsburgh 30-9 on Oct. 8 at Heinz Field, forcing Steelers two-time Super Bowl winning quarterback Ben Roethlisberger into a career-worst five interceptions. The Steelers (13-3) went on to win 10 of their last 11 games to secure the AFC’s second seed and first-round bye. “We’ve evolved since then,” Pittsburgh coach Mike Tomlin said. “They have evolved a lot since then. (The first game) is a good physical reference in terms of the matchups. … I am sure that they are as different as we are since the last time we’ve seen them.” The Jaguars are hoping that the evolution has been minimal, especially the passing game. Roethlisberger said last week he was hoping the Steelers would get to play the Jaguars. Jacksonville All-Pro cornerback Jalen Ramsey helped grant his wish with his interception in the final seconds to seal Jacksonville’s 10-3 victory over Buffalo in the wild-card round Sunday at EverBank Field. The win was Jacksonville’s first in the playoffs since the 2007 season, its last appearance. The Jaguars (11-6) returned two Roethlisberger interceptions for touchdowns in the first meeting. The 35-year-old Roethlisberger wondered “if he still has it” after the loss when meeting with reporters. Ramsey said with the Bills game behind them, Big Ben’s comments about wanting a rematch have their attention. “I’m sure it will be brought up a couple times this week,” Ramsey said. “I would want to play us again too. He threw five picks and was contemplating retirement saying whether he had it or not after playing us. They had a good season after our game. But, sometimes you have to be careful what you ask for. We’ll see Big Ben and the Steelers on Sunday. We’ll see what happens then.” Ramsey intercepted a pass in the Pittsburgh win and deflected four passes. One breakup resulted in strong safety Barry Church intercepting a pass and returning it 51 yards for a touchdown. Roethlisberger was quick to praise the Jaguars’ defense this week. “This is one of the best defenses I’ve ever played against Eagles Avonte Maddox Jersey ,” Roethlisberger said. The Steelers finished the season ranked third in the NFL in passing yardage, with the Jaguars first in pass defense. “They play to our strengths,” Ramsey said. “They think that passing is their strength. Defending the pass is our strength. Any team that tries to pass the ball on us 40 times hasn’t had success on us and I don’t think will have success on us. We have to grind this week though. They’re a good team coming off the bye. We’re going to have to have a great game plan and execute.” Ramsey will be in the headlining matchup Sunday as he goes up against Steelers All-Pro receiver Antonio Brown, who caught 10 passes for 157 yards on 19 targets in the first meeting. Brown injured his calf on Dec. 17, but is expected to play Sunday. The eighth-year veteran led the NFL in receiving yards this season with 1,533 (89 more than No. 2 Julio Jones), despite missing the final two games of the season. Pittsburgh will also try to lean more on All-Pro running back Le’Veon Bell, who was held to 93 total yards in the first meeting. “He’s not one-dimensional,” Jaguars coach Doug Marrone said. “It’s not like this guy is going to take the ball and run downhill and run you over every single time he takes it. He can do that. He can also get the ball outside. He has excellent patience. He has a really good understanding of the blocking scheme. He’s a natural catcher.” The big question is how much will Pittsburgh really need to score? Jacksonville’s offense has been sluggish lately, scoring 20 total points in its last two outings combined. Jaguars quarterback Blake Bortles wasn’t effective in the first meeting. He completed 8-of-14 passes for 95 yards with no touchdowns and an interception for a 48.2 passer rating. The Jaguars’ top-ranked run offense had one of its best days of the season Eagles Josh Sweat Jersey , generating 231 yards. Rookie running back Leonard Fournette carried 28 times for 181 yards and two touchdowns, including a game-clinching 90-yard score. “Hopefully, we can throw less,” Bortles said. “That would be awesome. Leonard goes off again and those guys up front play as well as they did last time, we can run the ball up there and not have to throw at all. It was something that happened last time, but you never know.” In line for his first win in more than two months, Zack Wheeler had to watch as the New York Mets bullpen turned a five-run lead into a two-run deficit. Lourdes Gurriel Jr. hit a tiebreaking two-run home run in the eighth inning and the Toronto Blue Jays rallied to beat the struggling Mets 8-6 on Tuesday night. ”Wheeler threw a gem,” said Mets reliever Anthony Swarzak, who allowed three runs. ”We should have won this game.” Yangervis Solarte hit a game-tying three-run home run off Robert Gsellman in the seventh before Gurriel Jr. went deep off Tim Peterson (1-1) in the eighth as the Blue Jays won for the 11th time in 14 home games. ”A couple of pitches that we didn’t quite execute, and they put them out of the park 49ers Weston Richburg Jersey ,” New York manager Mickey Callaway said. The Mets have lost 11 of 13. John Axford (2-1) pitched 1 2/3 innings to earn the win. Tyler Clippard got the final out for his sixth save in 10 opportunities, stranding runners at first and second. Wheeler allowed two runs and three hits in 6 1/3 innings but was denied his first victory since April 29 at San Diego. ”He did great job tonight,” Callaway said. ”Obviously deserved a better fate than he got.” Wheeler pitched seven scoreless innings against Pittsburgh in his previous start but the Mets lost 5-3. ”This is a good little stretch right now and hopefully I can keep it going,” Wheeler said. Asdrubal Cabrera and Devin Mesoraco each hit two-run home runs for the Mets. Wilmer Flores added a solo shot. Cabrera connected against Blue Jays right-hander Marco Estrada in the first and Mesoraco homered off Jake Petricka in the second. Estrada was removed after 12 pitches because of a sore left hip. He faced three batters and got one out. Estrada allowed two runs and one hit. ”His left hip has been bothering him a little bit,” Blue Jays manager John Gibbons said. ”It was bothering him in his last start but it was worse tonight.” X-rays were negative. Estrada was undergoing an MRI following the game. Petricka replaced Estrada and pitched 2 2/3 innings. Mets outfielder Jose Bautista went 1 for 2 with a single and three walks in his first game in Toronto since leaving the Blue Jays at the end of last season, ending a 10-year run north of the border. The crowd of 24,010 gave Bautista a standing ovation before his first at bat. The two-time home run champion took off his batting helmet and acknowledged both the fans and the Blue Jays dugout before drawing a five-pitch walk and scoring on Cabrera’s 15th homer. ”Great to be recognized, great to acknowledge the fans and great to know they feel good I’m back and wanted to recognize me,” Bautista said. Bautista made a diving catch to retire Russell Martin for the final out of the second but was charged with a two-base error in the seventh when Randal Grichuk’s single skipped past him and rolled to the wall. ”I was actually going to try to make a play at first,” Bautista said. ”It was a good one to make an attempt 49ers Cassius Marsh Jersey , but the ball bounced a little higher than expected.” Kevin Plawecki replaced Mesoraco at catcher in the seventh. Mesoraco was struck on the helmet by the carom when Travis was hit by a pitch in the fifth. Mesoraco was hit again by a swing in the sixth. Callaway said Mesoraco passed concussion tests but would be monitored overnight. TUNED IN The Blue Jays played Bautista’s old walk-up music, Usher’s ”OMG,” before his first at bat. ”That caught me by surprise,” Bautista said. TRAINER’S ROOM Mets: OF Yoenis Cespedes (right hip) felt fine after running a series of sprints Monday, manager Mickey Callaway said. It was the first time Cespedes had run since leaving a minor league rehab game June 9. … RHP Noah Syndergaard (right index finger) and LHP Jason Vargas (right calf) faced each other in a simulated game at the Mets’ spring training facility in Florida Tuesday. Syndergaard threw 50 pitches and Vargas threw 65. Blue Jays: RHP Seunghawn Oh (flu-like symptoms) was not available. … Minor league 3B prospect Vladimir Guerrero Jr. (left knee) has resumed batting practice and is expected to participate in infield drills this weekend. Guerrero Jr. is working out at Toronto’s spring training facility in Florida. UP NEXT Mets RHP Corey Oswalt (0-1, 9.82) faces Blue Jays RHP Marcus Stroman (1-5, 6.02) in Wednesday’s series finale. Oswalt made his major league debut against Miami on June 29, allowing six runs in 2 2/3 innings. Stroman won for the first time this season in his previous outing, pitching seven innings against Detroit. —

Orioles reliever Darren O’Day has opted for season-ending surgery to repair a left hamstring injury. Manager Buck Showalter said the recovery time from the operation would be six months Andy Dalton Jersey , compared to a 10- to 12-week absence if the right-hander attempted to rehabilitate the injury. Showalter said surgery gives O’Day ”a lot better chance of it not being an issue again. And that’s important.” The 35-year-old O’Day has struggled with injuries this season, missing a month with a hyperextended elbow before being sidelined for good after hurting his hamstring on June 26. The side-armer is 0-2 with a 3.60 ERA in 20 games. He was placed on the 60-day disabled list on Friday. Showalter says O’Day has not finalized the time and place of the procedure. — Former San Diego Chargers head coach Mike McCoy has been hired as offensive coordinator at Arizona and Al Holcomb is following new Cardinals head coach Steve Wilks from Carolina to be defensive coordinator. The Cardinals also hired Jeff Rodgers as special teams coordinator. The three hires were announced Friday, just four days after Wilks was hired to replace Bruce Arians, who retired after a franchise-record 50 victories in his five seasons in the desert. McCoy was offensive coordinator of the Denver Broncos for five seasons (2009-12 and again in 2017). He was head coach of the Chargers from 2013 to 2016. Holcomb was linebackers coach of the Panthers for the past five seasons. Wilks spent five seasons as secondary coach in Carolina before being named defensive coordinator there last year. Rodgers was special teams coordinator of the Chicago Bears the past three seasons. McCoy, 45, was a hot commodity in 2013 and the Cardinals were interested in him as a head coaching candidate at the time before he chose the Chargers and the Cardinals went with Arians. McCoy’s first two San Diego teams went 9-7 but they dipped to 4-12 in 2015. He was fired after San Diego went 5-11 in 2016. He takes over an offense that has no quarterback. General manager Steve Keim has said he will be aggressive either by free agency, trade or the draft – or any combination of the three – to find a quarterback. McCoy has experience in several offensive schemes and Wilks A.J. Green Jersey , whose coaching background is entirely on the defensive side of the ball, has made it clear he wants a strong running game. ”Someone mentioned a pass-happy league, which I agree it is,” Wilks said at his news conference Tuesday. ”But, I still believe this: You have to have a foundation of running the football. As a defensive coordinator, there’s nothing more demoralizing to a team than being able to run the ball. I mean, you’re talking about taking the air out of an individual. So William Jackson Jersey , that’s going to be our premise. When you look at some of the premier running backs in the National Football League, we have one right here in (David) Johnson.” Johnson, who led the NFL in yards from scrimmage and touchdowns in 2016, broke a wrist in the 2017 opener and missed the remainder of last season. In 2011, with McCoy as offensive coordinator, the Broncos led the NFL with a franchise-record 2,362 yards rushing. McCoy was an assistant at Carolina for nine seasons before going to Denver. He was a quarterback at Long Beach State and Utah. He was on the practice squad at Green Bay and San Francisco and played in NFL Europe and the Canadian Football League before beginning his coaching career. Holcomb Darqueze Dennard Jersey , 47, helped develop one of the NFL’s best linebacking duos in Carolina with Luke Kuechly and Thomas Davis. He inherits what has been a strong defense anchored by All-Pro outside linebacker Chandler Jones, who led the league in sacks, and perennial Pro Bowl cornerback Patrick Peterson. James Bettcher, who served as defensive coordinator for four seasons under Arians after Todd Bowles left for the New York Jets, was hired Friday as defensive coordinator for the New York Giants under new head coach Pat Shurmur. With Holcomb overseeing the linebacker corps, the Panthers finished third in the NFL in sacks Dre Kirkpatrick Jersey , seventh in overall defense and third in run defense. The Panthers were the only team in the NFL not to allow a player to rush for 100 yards. Under Bettcher last season, Arizona was sixth in overall defense. Rodgers, 40, has 17 years of coaching experience, 14 with special teams in the NFL. Special teams have often been a problem for the Cardinals in the Arians years. —

Jose Altuve was more than due when he came to bat in the 10th inning Shaquem Griffin Color Rush Jersey , and got a winning rally started for the Houston Astros. ”He hadn’t gotten a hit in four at-bats,” manager A.J. Hinch said of the second basemen who led the American League in hits each of the past four seasons and is the MLB leader so far this year. Altuve was actually in an 0-for-13 slide before his fifth at-bat Wednesday night against the Texas Rangers. His 115th hit of the season was a one-out single off Chris Martin, who then hit Yuli Gurriel with a pitch before an errant pickoff throw allowed both runners to move up. That set up Evan Gattis‘ tiebreaking sacrifice fly in a 5-4 victory. Gurriel homered, doubled and scored twice as the Astros overcame an early four-run deficit. His fifth homer, leading off the fifth against starter Mike Minor, tied the game at 4. Josh Reddick also went deep for the Astros, who their eighth consecutive road game against Texas and are a majors-best 32-14 on the road this season. The Astros have a 12-4 advantage in the season series between the instate division rivals that has only a three-game set remaining in Houston later this month. Shin-Soo Choo homered and had a single to extend his on-base streak to 44 games, the longest in his career and in the majors this season. That matches Otis Nixon’s streak in 1995 for the Rangers, and trails only Julio Franco’s 46-gamer in 1993 for the team record. Texas led 4-0 after Choo’s one-out solo homer started a three-run outburst in the third off starter Gerrit Cole. Collin McHugh (4-0), who won 48 games as a starter for the Astros the past four seasons Authentic Carl Gunnarsson Jersey , allowed only one hit over three scoreless innings. Ken Giles worked the 10th for his 12th save in 12 chances. ”You’re talking about a 19-game winner in the big leagues. Those don’t grow on trees,” said Astros reliever Will Harris, who worked out of a jam in the sixth before McHugh took over. ”He goes out there and he knows who he is. He mixes it up, he’s a strike thrower and he’s a fearless guy out there.” MESSY MOUND The start of the game was delayed for a few minutes after Minor had issues with the mound during warmups. The ground crew came out to work on the slippery dirt. Cole also was unhappy with the mound. Martin (1-2) slipped and fell down when throwing the pitch that hit Gurriel. The Rangers said afterward that Martin was being evaluated for a left groin issue. ”The mound early seemed to be slick,” Rangers manager Jeff Banister said. DEEP ON THE ROAD The Astros have homered in 24 consecutive road games, three short of the MLB record set by the Oakland Athletics earlier this season. Baltimore also went deep in 24 consecutive road games in 1996. RACKING UP K’s Cole, who threw 108 pitches to get through five innings, struck out seven to increase his season total to 158. The only Astros pitcher with more strikeouts before the All-Star break is Mike Scott, with 167 in 22 starts in 1986. Cole has made 18 starts, with two more scheduled before the break. … In four starts against Texas this season Womens Mattias Ekholm Jersey , Cole has 40 strikeouts in 25 innings. FAR FROM PERFECT Minor retired the first 19 San Diego batters he faced in his previous start a week earlier. The lefty allowed four runs (three earned) on seven hits over six innings against Houston with four strikeouts and three walks. ”Probably not as sharp as he’s been,” Banister said. ”Looked like they were sitting on slider.” TRAINER’S ROOM Astros: Hinch said C Max Stassi was feeling better than expected after getting hit by a pitch on his right (throwing) wrist in the first inning Tuesday, on the same day starting catcher Brian McCann had arthroscopic surgery on his right knee. Rangers: 3B Adrian Beltre, baseball’s active career hits leader (3,108), was scratched from the lineup about an hour before the game because of an infected tooth. He had a root canal and then traveled with the team to Detroit. … RHP Tony Barnette went on the 10-day disabled list. An MRI revealed a strained lat that will keep him from throwing for at least four weeks. He left Tuesday night’s game in the middle of a batter. UP NEXT Astros: Justin Verlander (9-4), who has lost his last two starts, is on the mound when the Astros return home for the opener Thursday night of a four-game series against the Chicago White Sox. Rangers: The Rangers open a 10-game, 11-day trip that will take them to the All-Star break when they play Thursday night at Detroit. Texas also plays at Boston and Baltimore before their next home game July 20. — Marcel Hirscher claimed his 55th World Cup victory by finishing well ahead of his rivals in Sunday’s giant slalom, the last before the Olympics. The Austrian six-time overall champion was fastest in both runs for a combined time of 2 minutes P.K Subban Jersey , 40.18 seconds on the Kandahar course – 1.57 seconds faster than compatriot Manuel Feller and 1.69 quicker than Ted Ligety of the United States. ”It’s really, really difficult to beat Marcel, unless he beats himself,” Ligety said. ”You have to ski as fast as you can and hope that’s good enough, but it probably won’t be if he skis as well as he can.” Hirscher, who broke his ankle in the offseason and missed his entire preparation period, overtook Austrian great Hermann Maier’s career total of World Cup wins. ”It’s definitely something special to be Austria’s No. 1 in career victories so a huge day for myself,” said Hirscher, who only has Swedish standout Ingemar Stenmark ahead of him in men’s skiing with 86 wins. ”I give my best like every other athlete. But I’m quite stable this season and mentally everything is a little easier,” Hirscher said after his seventh giant slalom win in eight races. His third place at Val d’Isere in France was the only exception. ”I’m very happy and very surprised that this season is going so well Authentic Pekka Rinne Jersey Kids ,” the Austrian said. The 25-year-old Feller almost lost control as he skied to the limit but managed to hang on to claim his first podium finish. Ligety was 0.63 behind Hirscher after the first run. ”This hill is always a really tough hill. It’s not a place you can put two really good turns together, unless you’re Marcel,” Ligety said after he claimed his first podium place of the season. It was his first since placing second in a super-G at Beaver Creek in December 2015. ”I’m happy to make that step here when it’s been a tough couple of years injury-wise,” Ligety said. Henrik Kristoffersen, Hirscher’s closest rival in both the overall and giant slalom standings, finished fourth, 1.83 behind. Hirscher stretched his lead over the Norwegian to 105 points in the discipline standings – with his 26th giant slalom victory – and 224 in the overall standings. Alexis Pinturault, the only man other than Hirscher to have won any of the last 11 World Cup giant slaloms, finished 2.32 off the pace in ninth.

Jacksonville Jaguars quarterback Blake Bortles had surgery on his right wrist last week to fix a problem that kept him on the injury report all season. The team confirmed the surgery Tuesday. ESPN first reported the surgery. Bortles dealt with the issue in his throwing wrist throughout the season. He appeared on the injury report every week but did not miss a practice or a game. Jacksonville picked up the fifth-year option in Bortles’ rookie contract last year Authentic Michael Gallup Jersey , guaranteeing him $19 million in 2018 if he’s on Jacksonville’s roster the first day of the league year in March. The Jaguars are prohibited from cutting Bortles if he’s hurt or recovering from an injury. Bortles completed 60 percent of his passes in 2017, with 21 touchdowns and 13 interceptions. He also was sacked a career-low 24 times. — The Los Angeles Angels were 4 1/2 games behind the Seattle Mariners when they opened a three-game series three weeks ago. When the Angels return to Seattle on Tuesday to begin another three-game set, they’ll be 11 games behind the Mariners for the second wild card from the American League. The Mariners (54-31) swept the Angels the last time they were in town, and Seattle expanded that cushion by going 7-0 last week for their longest winning streak of the season. The Angels (43-42) are 6-14 since pulling within 3 1/2 games of the Mariners on June 9. They lost to the Minnesota Twins the following day before getting swept June 11-13 in Seattle. Los Angeles has already played six games at Safeco Field this season but has yet to host the Mariners in Anaheim.

The Pittsburgh Pirates will be trying to win three games in a row after a rough month and the Cincinnati Reds will be looking to avoid the start of a skid when the teams play the middle game of a series Saturday at PNC Park. Pittsburgh (34-35) won the series opener 3-2 Miles Killebrew Jersey , posting back-to-back wins for the first time since winning three straight May 15-17 to reach a season-best nine games above .500. In the interim before Friday’s win, the Pirates were 6-18 and entered the weekend as close to the last-place Reds (eight games) as they were to first-place Milwaukee in the National League Central. “It’s a long season. There’s going to be times where stuff like that happens,” Pittsburgh third baseman Colin Moran said of the poor stretch. “It’s more important that we bounce back like we did.” Cincinnati (23-44) had won three in a row before Friday. Pirates right-hander Ivan Nova (3-5, 4.68 ERA) is scheduled to face Reds right-hander Luis Castillo (4-7, 5.79) on Saturday. Nova on Sunday returned from the disabled list (sprained right ring finger) without having made any rehab starts. No matter. He struck out eight in 5 2/3 innings, giving up one run and four hits in a 7-1 win over the Cubs in Chicago. It showed the Pirates that the veteran can still be highly effective. It showed Nova that it is better to be forthcoming about nagging injuries and be willing to step away and heal. “Just the way that the ball was coming out of my hand, I could tell the difference right away,” Nova said. “To be able to pitch a game like (that) … I think that’s kind of a lesson for you. Don’t force it.” He had not had any sort of organized outing since his last appearance before May 24 when he went on the DL. “He was ready to pitch,” Pirates manager Clint Hurdle said. “At the end of the day, he showed you he was ready to pitch.” Nova also impressed the opposition. “He was hitting the corners all day, keeping the ball down,” Cubs first baseman Anthony Rizzo told MLB.com. “It’s tough to do anything when he’s on like that.” Nova is 3-7 with a 4.67 ERA in 10 career starts against Cincinnati. Castillo’s last start was much more mixed than Nova’s. In a 6-4 loss to St. Louis, Castillo had a career-high 10 strikeouts but also a career-high two homers allowed as Jose Martinez and Marcell Ozuna smacked back-to-back dingers in the first inning after Castillo struck out the first two hitters on six pitches. He also gave up a first-pitch, bases-loaded triple to Yadier Molina in the third. “You just have to be strong mentally, more than physically,” Castillo said through an interpreter. He gave up five runs and four hits in six innings that game. Despite the rocky start and the loss, Castillo, 25, managed an in-game turnaround Randall Cobb Jersey , allowing just one batter to reach base in his final three innings. “You saw the talent of Castillo,” Cincinnati manager Jim Riggleman said. “The last three innings that he threw were outstanding, and it’s exciting to know that this guy has got a chance to be around here for a very long time. He’s just going to get better and better once he gets past these growing pains.” Castillo is 1-2 with a 3.68 ERA in four career starts against Pittsburgh, with 22 strikeouts in 22 innings. When Detroit outfielder JaCoby Jones came to the plate in the seventh inning of a tie game Thursday afternoon, he was well aware he was struggling at the plate after striking out in his first two at-bats against the Twins. He chose to focus on something else – the walk-off home run he hit against the Kansas City Royals nearly two months ago – and came through again. Jones hit Lance Lynn’s 3-1 fastball over the wall for the final two runs in Detroit’s 3-1 win. ”I knew I had some success in big late-game situations earlier this year, so I tried to take something from that,” said Jones, who was hitting .135 in his last 10 games. ”I was just looking for a fastball I could drive. ”I’ve really been pressing, so I tried to be more relaxed – the way I was earlier in the year when I hit that homer against the Royals,” he said. ”That’s the type of thing that can get you right out of a slump.” Detroit won the last two games of the series to improve to 23-17 at Comerica Park. The Tigers, who play their next eight games on the road, are 10-20 away from home. ”This is our place, and we have done a great job of playing here,” Tigers manager Ron Gardenhire said. ”Now we’ve got to take this momentum onto the road.” Michael Fulmer (3-5) improved to 5-0 in five career starts against the Twins. He pitched seven innings, allowing one run on five hits and a walk with four strikeouts in ending a three-start winless streak. ”It’s about time,” said Fulmer, who won for the first time this year at home. ”Everything felt great out there. Even when they got a run in the first, it was off good pitches that were where I wanted them.” Joe Jimenez pitched the eighth and Shane Greene threw the ninth for his 17th save. Lynn (4-5) took a shutout into the seventh but ended up allowing three runs on five hits and a walk. He struck out nine in 6 2/3 innings. ”I wanted to pitch the seventh,” Lynn said. ”When all is said and done T.J. Jones Jersey , it is a loss. I need to be better next time.” The Twins took a first-inning lead for the second day in a row. With one out, Eddie Rosario doubled and scored on Eduardo Escobar’s base hit. After that, the game belonged to Fulmer and Lynn. After six innings, the Twins still led 1-0 with four hits to Detroit’s three. John Hicks, though, led off the bottom of the seventh with his first career triple, a line drive to the right-centerfield gap. ”That’s a good place to get a triple, and when I got to second base, I looked out there and they still hadn’t picked up the ball,” Hicks said. ”I figured I should be able to make it to third at that point.” Niko Goodrum followed with a sacrifice fly to tie the game. With two out, Lynn hit Jose Iglesias, and Jones hit Lynn’s 114th and final pitch over the wall. ”There were a lot of big smiles after that home run,” Gardenhire said. ”It was good to see JaCoby get one.” The homer was the first Lynn had allowed in his last six starts. ”I have to get us out of that inning,” he said. ”I didn’t do that, and it cost us the win.” Detroit’s three-run seventh came one day after the Tigers scored four in the eighth inning of a 5-2 win. ”It is fun to watch these guys play right now in the late innings,” Fulmer said. ”As a starting pitcher, I’d appreciate a few more first-inning runs, but this is great.” SANO DEMOTED After the game, Twins manager Paul Molitor announced Miguel Sano had been optioned to Fort Myers of the Class-A Florida State League. Sano Authentic Troy Apke Jersey , an All Star in 2017, is hitting .203, including .148 in his last seven games. He last played in the FSL in 2013. ”We’re going to get him down there and give him an opportunity to get things back on track,” Molitor said. ”We don’t feel like we’re getting what we need from him, and he’s going to have to get down there and get to work.” CASTELLANOS STRUGGLING With Miguel Cabrera out for the season, Nicholas Castellanos is expected to become Detroit’s key hitter. Castellanos is hitting .133 in his last 10 games and is hitless in his last 18 at-bats, but Gardenhire doesn’t plan to interfere. ”I try not to have many deep conversations with that young man because most of what he says goes over my head,” Gardenhire joked. ”Every time we get talking, I leave with my head spinning.” TRAINER’S ROOM Twins: 1B Joe Mauer, who has been out since May 19 with a neck strain and concussion symptoms, is expected to return to the lineup on Friday. . Along with the Sano move, the Twins optioned OF Jake Cave to Triple-A Rochester. Tigers: Cabrera was scheduled to have his ruptured bicep tendon repaired Thursday. The team expects him to be ready for spring training. … C James McCann returned to the lineup after missing three games with the flu. UP NEXT Twins: Travel to Cleveland for a three-game weekend series. Kyle Gibson (1-4, 3.45) faces Cleveland’s Corey Kluber (10-2, 1.99) in Friday’s opener. Tigers: Start a three-city, eight-game road trip with a weekend series against the White Sox. Mike Fiers (5-3, 4.01) will start for Detroit on Friday against Chicago’s Reynaldo Lopez (2-4, 3.26). —

Sooner or later Nyheim Hines Jersey , the Cincinnati Reds will get the message: Be careful pitching to Eric Thames. Reds right-hander Sal Romano, who opposes Thames and the first-place Milwaukee Brewers on Friday night at Great American Ball Park, already knows the dangers of making a mistake to the power hitter who torments Cincinnati like no other. Thames beat Romano and the Brewers 2-0 with a two-run home run on April 17. Not satisfied with that, Thames beat the Reds — and this time, Tyler Mahle — with yet another two-run home run in a 2-0 decision the very next day on April 18. Flash forward to Thursday night, and the Reds — the NL’s hottest team coming in with nine wins in 10 games — are leading 4-2 with two out and two on in the seventh inning. Amir Garrett, especially tough on left-handed hitters, is on the mound. Yet Garrett gave Thames a too-good pitch to hit, and the result was a decisive three-run home run, and the Brewers went on to win 6-4. “That was a huge hit,” Brewers manager Craig Counsell said. “We were down two (runs) there and Garrett’s been really good. It was a good win. We had a lot of guys do a lot. We had big at-bats in big situations.” Jesus Aguilar added a tying two-run homer, his 19th, off Reds starter Anthony DeSclafani in the third inning after Cincinnati had gone ahead 2-0 in the first. For Thames, it was his third consecutive game against Cincinnati with a game-winning homer and it also was his 13th homer, to go with 24 RBIs, in only 20 career games against the NL Central rival Reds. The three homers represent his only three hits against the Reds this season; overall, he’s hit only .234. Thames hadn’t homered off a left-hander all season Jacoby Brissett Jersey , although he had only 13 prior at-bats against lefties. However, he has handled Garrett, homering off him the last three times he’s faced him. His numbers against the Reds the last two seasons are remarkable: 13 homers, including 10 homers and 17 RBIs in 17 games last season. “Thames has really done damage against us, last year and this year,” Reds interim manager Jim Riggleman said. “We don’t have an answer for him. He’s really hurt us.” As have the Brewers. They came in with six losses in their previous 10 games, but they’re off to a good start in the four-game series, especially given that the Reds had won 12 of their previous 15 despite being in last place. Milwaukee has won six of seven from Cincinnati this season. The Reds not only haven’t solved how to beat the Brewers, neither has Romano (4-7). He’s pitched well in two of his last three starts overall, but he’s 0-4 with a 6.27 ERA in four career starts against the Brewers. Ryan Braun gives him trouble, going 5-of-10 (.500) with one homer against him. The Brewers, who lead the Chicago Cubs by 2 1-2 games in the NL Central, will send out right-hander Chase Anderson (5-6), who has had success against the Reds. He’s 3-1 with a 3.19 ERA against them in eight starts, beating them 7-6 on May 1 despite giving up four runs and six hits in 5 1/3 innings. One reason for that success is Anderson’s ability to shut down some of the Reds’ top hitters. Eugenio Suarez, who leads the NL with 59 RBIs, is only 2-for-13 (.154) against him Rigoberto Sanchez Jersey , and Scooter Gennett, who leads the league with a .331 average, is 2-for-7 (.286). The Brewers lost center fielder Christian Yelich to lower back tightness in the first inning Thursday, and it’s been a problem he’s had in the past. His status for Friday and the rest of the series is uncertain. “It looks like this one is not as bad,” said Yelich, who is hitting .289. “It’s frustrating. We’ll know more in a day or so. Hopefully, we can take care of it.” Asked how the Atlanta Braves have surprised many experts by establishing a three-game lead in the National League East at the season’s halfway point, catcher Kurt Suzuki didn’t hesitate. “This team has no fear,” he said Saturday night after an 11-4 victory in St. Louis. “We have a lot of young guys but we also have some veterans. We approach every game the same way.” Atlanta’s consistency has been too much for the Cardinals this weekend. Behind solid starting pitching and an explosive offense, the Braves (47-34) have outscored St. Louis 16-5 in winning the series’ first two games. They go for a sweep on Sunday at Busch Stadium. Right-hander Mike Foltynewicz (5-4, 2.14 ERA) will try to match what Julio Teheran and Max Fried have done in the series. Neither allowed a run in a combined 12 2/3 innings, with Fried enjoying the best outing of his short big league career Saturday night. The former first-round pick of the San Diego Padres allowed only four hits and three walks in 6 2/3 innings, recording 11 strikeouts against the whiff-prone Cardinals. The hard-throwing Foltynewicz made his return from the 10-day disabled list Monday night, allowing one hit and one run in five innings while walking four and fanning four against Cincinnati in a no-decision. “The arm was just kind of heavy,” he said to mlb.com. “You can’t really practice these situations when you’re out there with your adrenaline running, but just a couple of times I just couldn’t really extend too far. But adrenaline pushed me through.” Foltynewicz has faced St. Louis three times in his career, going 1-2 with a 9.95 ERA and yielding a whopping 22 hits over 12 2/3 innings. In an attempt to avoid a fourth straight loss DeShone Kizer Jersey , the Cardinals (42-39) will turn to former Atlanta prospect John Gant (2-2, 3.48). Gant, replacing the disabled Michael Wacha in the rotation, pitched the best game of his career Monday night, limiting Cleveland to an infield single by Yan Gomes over seven innings in a 5-0 victory. Gant walked five and fanned four, but his off-speed pitches kept the Indians off-balance all game and enabled him to post his first win as a starter. “We’re lucky the third base bag got in the way of Gomes’ (grounder) or we wouldn’t have had anything,” Cleveland manager Terry Francona said to mlb.com of Gant’s performance. Before plating four runs in the ninth inning Saturday night, St. Louis managed two runs in its previous 26 innings. Its offense has been primarily singles and homers, as it’s on pace for the fewest doubles and triples in the majors. Help may be on the way when the Cardinals start a nine-game road trip Monday night against Arizona. Shortstop Paul DeJong may be activated off the disabled list after a weekend rehab stint for Triple-A Memphis. That could result in the move of first baseman Jose Martinez, who’s on a 100-RBI pace but has been poor afield, to his natural outfield position. In fact, Martinez played the last three innings Saturday night in right field. “Jose Martinez has earned a spot in the lineup every day, so we have to figure out a spot to play him,” general manager Michael Girsch said to mlb.com.

New Buffalo Bills wide receiver Corey Coleman can't escape reminders of Cleveland no matter how hard he's tried to put his two seasons with the Browns in the past.First Authentic Josh Allen Jersey , there was the second episode of HBO's "Hard Knocks" series on Tuesday, which detailed how a frustrated Coleman demanded the Browns trade him. And then on Friday, the 2016 first-round draft pick is expected to make his Bills debut in a preseason game at Cleveland."Hey, it's going to be weird. But I'm not out there anymore," Coleman said. "I'm just treating it like any other game."As for TV cameras capturing his final days with the Browns, Coleman said he didn't watch the episode but friends sent him clips. One features Coleman in his vehicle exiting the Browns' parking lot for the last time and saying: "Adios, Cleveland.""It is what it is. Nothing really to explain," Coleman told The Associated Press on Wednesday. He added he bears "no hard feelings" toward the Browns.Coleman appeared to have different feelings a few weeks ago when cameras filmed him entering Browns coach Hue Jackson's office and questioning why he was demoted to practicing with the second stringers.Jackson told Coleman to ask offensive coordinator Todd Haley.Coleman responded by saying: "If you don't want me to play, why don't you all just trade me?"Coleman confirmed to the AP that he asked the Browns to trade him. In a sign of how far Coleman's stock has fallen since being drafted with the No. 15 pick out of Baylor, Buffalo had to give up only a 2020 seventh-round selection to acquire him on Aug. 5.The 24-year-old will be best remembered in Cleveland for two injury-shortened seasons and far too many dropped passes. The worst occurred late in the fourth quarter of last season's finale at Pittsburgh that sealed the Browns' 0-16 finish.Coleman caught 56 of the 131 passes thrown in his direction for 718 yards and five touchdowns in 19 games. In Buffalo, he joins an offense in transition, featuring a new coordinator, Brian Daboll, and a three-way quarterback competition, including rookie first-round pick Josh Allen. It's also an offense that lacks proven receivers behind starter Kelvin Benjamin.Coleman's first challenge is learning a new playbook and building chemistry with the three quarterbacks. He's not made much of a splash during his first week of practice, splitting time mostly with the second- and third-stringers.On Wednesday, Coleman drew cheers when making an arms-outstretched leaping catch deep up the left sideline, only to have one foot land out of bounds. Before one snap during practice Tuesday, an offensive assistant went up to Coleman and directed him where to line up.On the plus side, Coleman spends time working after practice and is usually among the last players off the field.Coach Sean McDermott's intention for Friday is to see how much Coleman can handle, as opposed to easing him in."We're getting to the point now where it needs to be the former in terms of: 'Here's the playbook. You've got to know it Womens Jason Croom Jersey ,'" McDermott said. "The biggest thing is that we want him to come out, play fast, and play physical."Daboll said he has no preconceptions toward Coleman based on what happened in Cleveland."I just go by what I see," Daboll said. "He works hard. He's on time. He asks good questions."Coleman's approach hasn't changed since arriving at Bills camp saying he's looking forward to a fresh start and wants to be measured by how he responds to what happened in Cleveland."Don't take a day out here for granted," Coleman said this week. "My main goal is getting better and helping the Buffalo Bills win."NOTES: The Bills had no update on Benjamin, who practiced on a limited basis for a second consecutive day. ... DE Trent Murphy has been sidelined by a groin injury for a second time in three weeks and is expected to miss his second consecutive preseason game. ... The Bills broke camp in suburban Rochester, New York, on Wednesday and will resume practice at their headquarters on Sunday. Josh Allen needs to be the starting quarterback of the Buffalo Bills. End of story. Period.Quarterback Matt Barkley, signed off the scrap heap two weeks ago and starting his first game in more than a full NFL season, came in for the Bills and played a great game. He pushed the ball down the field. He gave receivers a chance to make plays. He caught a couple breaks when balls he threw weren’t intercepted. It was your replacement-level type of NFL start. That’s great, but he’s not the future of the organization. He shouldn’t be the present, either.Once the Bills made the decision to put Allen into the starting lineup, it needed to be permanent. You can’t insert him then take him out and rattle his confidence. If you were worried about his readiness, that was a conversation for roster cutdowns when you traded AJ McCarron and didn’t sign another vet or Week 2 when you put him in the starting lineup. Now that’s he’s been in the lineup, you roll with him or he’ll begin questioning everything that’s made him the guy you wanted him to be when you traded premium assets for him. Think of a time when you’ve been in over your head, probably at work but it could be at home or somewhere else. You jump in with both feet, realize the water is too deep, and you hopefully get helped out of the water. Next time you jump in, you’re a little more prepared to swim because you don’t have the surprise of the water being so deep. Allen has that chance following his elbow injury. He’s had a chance to see how Derek Anderson works. He’s had a chance to see Barkley come in and be successful. He’s more prepared to swim. With seven losses on their ledger in 2018, the Bills are likely not destined for the playoffs. They would need to run the table and get some help. So if we’re turning the page to 2019, it only makes sense to put in Allen and let him learn on the job. When things slow down for him http://www.buffalobillsteamonline.com/jordan-mills-jersey , Buffalo will be able to take the next step and keeping him out of the lineup will only delay that.Jason Wolf at The Buffalo News not only disagrees with me, he called people who think like me crazy. CRAZY!“After the offensive eruption we just witnessed... the only sane option, if the Bills, indeed, are not just chasing the highest possible draft pick, is to ride the hot hand,” wrote Wolf after the game.“It’s alere with Barkley coming off this performance, because if and when the rookie struggles, some fans and even teammates might prefer the backup who lit up the Jets,” wrote Wolf later.First, the Bills brass should not be worried what fans or the media think. Secondly, they’ve proven several times that they do things their way regardless of the locker room (or the fans). It wasn’t popular to trade super-talented players last year, but the team stayed together. As for Barkley, who has been with four teams in six seasons after being a fourth-round pick, he is not the QB the team is building around. He has a career TD-to-INT ratio of 10-18 even after Sunday’s big win and a career passer rating of 68.3. And he’s been with the team for six whole practices, so he’s already the most popular person in the locker room? It’s also interesting to note how the players around the QB performed. Allen has hit Robert Foster in the hands plenty of times, but the UDFA rookie receiver dropped them early in the season. On Sunday, he topped 100 yards after being added back to the main roster. Zay Jones has been gaining separation. The offensive line opened holes for LeSean McCoy. With the players around the QB improving, or at least having a better game, wouldn’t Allen have the same opportunity for success? This is a long-winded way of saying that Buffalo needs to go back to Allen whenever he’s healthy. But maybe Sean McDermott and I are just insane.

Not to be forgotten, the defenders this week are all middle-round prospects looking to make a rise up the board this season. More about each 2019 draft prospect below. RB Zack Moss (Utah)The Utes were determined to pound the rock against UCLA and Moss was their battering ram, so much so that he ended the day with 211 yards on 26 runs. As always, the 215-pound junior proved difficult to bring down, but he also managed to show off some long speed on one particular 60-yard scamper which is important for his evaluation. Also important was the fact that he caught two passes for 14 yards and held up in pass protection.C Garrett Bradbury (NC State)Syracuse and NC State had an old-fashioned shootout, thanks to some great protection provided by the offensive line for both teams. For the Wolfpack http://www.billscheapshop.com/cheap-authentic-phillip-gaines-jersey , that protection was provided by Bradbury. The center was extremely light on his feet, which led to a couple nice runs, but allowed him to shine in his pass sets. His movement skills helped on run fakes, allowing him to pretend like he was run blocking, and then immediately shifting to a pass protection set.WR Sean Riley (Syracuse)The diminutive slot receiver for the Orange didn’t just go toe-to-toe with the NC State defensive backs, with his 164 yards he also managed to keep up with the Wolfpack’s Kelvin Harmon who had a monster day on the other side of the field. Defensively, NC State had no answer for Riley as he was too quick for linebackers and safeties and too polished a route-runner for slot corners. Several of his catches came on third downs, keeping drives alive and eventually leading to an upset. ER Ben Banogu (TCU)TCU usually chose to only rush three players on third downs against Kansas, but the senior still managed to get to the quarterback twice for sacks. Where Banogu really stood out though was in holding the edge in run defense http://www.billscheapshop.com/cheap-authentic-stephen-hauschka-jersey , finishing the day with 4.5 tackles for loss. If Banogu can continue to stack productive weeks like this, he could go from being considered late rounder to more of a mid-round consideration.LB Ryan Connelly (Wisconsin)The day began well for Connelly and the Wisconsin defense as a whole against Northwestern. Connelly made an very athletic play to tip a pass which ended up as an interception for the Badgers. Unfortunately, Wisconsin’s offense was no help and the defense eventually collapsed as well. No one should blame Connelly though, who found himself chasing running backs all day while leading his team in tackles with fourteen.Your browser does not support HTML5 video.CB Bryce Hall (Virginia)Hall can be labeled as a “draft riser” this year and that rise continued against UNC. The junior leads the nation in pass break ups, and had two against UNC, because he know how to position get his hands into the chest of the receiver and force an incompletion at the very last minute. The few times he does allow a catch, Hall uses his long arms to quickly wrap up and limit any yards after the catch. He also threw in a johnny-on-the-spot fumble recovery against the Tarheels. Your browser does not support HTML5 video. The Buffalo Bills enter Week 5 in a direct reversal of their fortunes from a season ago. Last year, the Bills were 3-1 and coming off an exciting victory on the road over a team no one expected them to beat—the Atlanta Falcons. They played the 1-3 Cincinnati Bengals in a game that could have cemented them as contenders early in the season, but ultimately lost 20-16.This year http://www.billsfootballauthentics.com/jeremy-kerley-jersey-authentic , the Tennessee Titans come into Orchard Park at 3-1. Last week, they defeated the Super Bowl champs in overtime in a game that many felt the Titans would lose. They face a 1-3 Buffalo team that they should beat, at least on paper, in a game that would leave them 4-1 and firmly in the conversation of early-season contenders. If the Bills pull off the home upset, they will put themselves in far better position then they would with a loss. While 1-4 isn’t the end of any hope for playoff contention, it would certainly be close.Your first half open thread is here, Bills fans.
